The Hip Hop community was shocked on December 31 after it was revealed MF DOOM. Until then, keep on listening to good music! I know I will. MF DOOM & Madlib's 'Madvillainy' Sequel Was 85 Percent Done. Also, if you have something you want to see me review, tell me in the comments. Thank you for reading my twentieth “Song Of The Week”! If you liked this post, make sure to follow my website, Twitter, and Instagram, like this post, and be sure to check in soon for future content. From 'Madvillainy' with Madlib to 'NehruvianDOOM' with Bishop Nehru, we ranked every album in MF DOOM catalog. If every song got the same playtime length each song would only have gotten 2 minutes which wasn‘t quite the norm at the. album Raising Hell, the tracklist was quite unusual.

DOOM also utilizes other monikers in his songs, creating a mysterious and powerful persona. MF DOOM is a persona created by Daniel Dumile, based on the character of Doctor Doom from the Marvel Universe. Madvillainy (March 23, 2004) The rapper’s 2004 began with Madvillainy. As the second album released under his moniker MF DOOM, Madvillainy was the result of Madlib wanting to work with DOOM. While the runtime wasn‘t quite unusual, with the likes such as Illmatic or even 1986 released Run-D.M.C. Madvillain is the duo of MC MFDOOM and producer Madlib. All in all, the capricious elements and raw talent displayed in this song make it a phenomenal track. Madvillainy had a runtime of 46min and a total of 22 tracks. Not only does the unpredictability of the lyrics reflect the abstract nature of the album, but the references of being a “villain” set one of the few solid themes for the rest of the album to go off of. The lyrics in the song are also incredible for an opening song (minus the skit at the beginning of the album). The rhyme schemes MF DOOM is able to construct are almost unreal, as he is able to make lines whose every syllable is able to rhyme with another lyric in the song. This beat, though, would not be as amazing if it wasn’t for MF DOOM’s absurd flows and lyrics. Madlib’s use of the accordion is very unique for a rap song, and it gives the track a smooth atmosphere, especially when surrounded by the light drums. As first, the dissonant chords the instrument plays is a tad off-putting, but once you get used to it, the beat is a mesmerizing one that is one of the best on the album. Since then, I’ve revisited the album many times, and I’d have to say “Accordion” is one of my favorite tracks off of it.Īs the title suggests, the main instrument in this track is an accordion. The first time I listened to it, I found it to be boring, but a long time after that, I listened to it again and found why it is such a beloved album. “Madvillainy” happened to be one of those albums for me. I think we all have a couple or a few of those albums that we listened to a while ago and didn’t like upon first listen, but, after maturing a bit, you listen to the album again and realize all the stuff you missed the first time around.
